Dreams or Reality

Reah

The truth is, the majority of society has never had the courage to follow their dreams. The systems that are set in place serve as mental boundaries, the metaphorical equivalence of an electrical fence bordering a yard to keep a dog from running away. The unfortunate part about that more people don't even think of the possibilities that lie beyond the fence, they have made the confines of what has been outlined for them their own space of comfort. As I have seen and experienced first hand, chasing your dreams to live a life beyond what is expected of us as the standard is nothing short of the proverbial uphill struggle. But every minute of it is exhilarating. You make mistakes, you mess up but each one of your downfalls serve as a lesson, a lesson that makes each moral victory feel like progress is imminent.

What I love most is the satisfaction in knowing that at some point in the near future, all your hard work will pay off. It's a taste that teases the tips of your lips at every milestone and without exaggerating, there is no taste sweeter than the realization of your dreams. Back before I really allowed the craft to engulf me, I told a friend my dream that I had of where my limited expectations of photography would one day take me. At the time, the dream felt far fetched, in our eyes it was merely a dream but it was a dream that no matter how many times others dispelled it, my desire to see it into fruition would be unwavering. As a result, he reminded me recently of this conversation that we had 4 years ago and funny enough, the dream I never in my life imagined to be true became my reality.

At this point in my life, I have become so caught up in the run & gun of this lifestyle that I'm chasing, that I completely forgot about the dream that started it all. Him being inspired by my determination to realize my dream has inspired me. What that moment has reminded me is that we often get so caught up in chasing dreams that we never realize how close we actually are to reaching them. Your dreams are meant to be seen and realized by you. Most times others can't see or believe it to be true because it wasn't meant for them, only you know how it feels to be awakened by a passion so deep. So why do we allow others who don't know to influence our decision? I guess it all goes back to the conversation at the beginning of this point. It's takes courage, a courage so unwavering that despite what others tell you (whether friends, family & especially parents), you will not stop until your dreams come true.

Shoutout to Big Sandman for this post, refreshing my memory of that moment. Shoutout to the bros Lionel, Louchini & Raza for putting that battery in my back from the beginning. This path we are on is just beginning, I can't wait for us to see be living that full dream as our realities.
