Most people consider New York to be the city of dreams; the bright lights, the tall buildings and the constant pulse of the city all attribute to that title. As a creative myself, I would have to strongly disagree. Maybe it’s the cold or it could be the lack of plant life that I’m unaccustomed to but New York always felt troubled. With the buildings being so y’all all around, energy, like the cold air, is trapped in a cyclone all around the city. The feeling to always have to watch over your shoulder, check who’s looking at you, keep your poker face on so you niggas know it ain’t sweet, a consistent feeling from most Northern & East Coast major cities. But for me, it gets no better than the West.
Which leads us to my favorite place in the U.S, Los Angeles, CA, the place I consider to be the city of dreams. Just walking around LA, you can feel the vibe, it's electric. Standing up top the Hills (both Beverly & Baldwin), looking down on the city, driving through Studio City, seeing all of the people that we clamor over from film & TV, all of these things will make the right person believe they can do anything. How can I run into a "star" in a grocery store and not believe that I too can achieve the level of greatness that they have risen to? How can I not now be motivated to push even harder knowing that everyone is just a normal person until opportunity strikes? If your dreams aren't enough to push you, adding that realization should only raise the bar for anyone trying.
Shoutout to the bro Kyndal Hairston (@CasualArtist_), young actor fresh to LA. I'm excited to see where he takes his journey. Watching his achievements & all the amazing LA views only pushes me to go harder.
